Overlay of Traditional Raised Access Floor

A traditional Raised Access Floor offers a huge range of benefits and flexibility in any building project, however there is often a requirement to overlay the existing raised floor, to allow for alternative finishes to be applied. These can include finishes such as; hard ceramics, stone or timber.

For many years, generic large sheet material such as ply has been the preferred choice for contractors to install and architects/designers to specify. It is widely available for many in the construction industry, but is it the right choice in current times?

Knauf Hugo Dry Screed Panel

AFD are pleased to launch a new overlay solution to raised access flooring… the Knauf Hugo Dry Screed Panel

Hugo is a high performance, precision engineered gypsum fibreboard dry screed panel with a strong tongue & grove edge joint.

Suitable to carry point loads of up to 4kN, Hugo can give you the confidence to install almost any finish direct, with no de-coupling layers required.

A sustainable approach to the overlay of a traditional Raised Access Floor

Hugo is manufactured from environmentally friendly gypsum fibreboard. EPD certified, the installation of Hugo can help towards reducing the overall carbon footprint of a construction project – providing support to achieve net zero carbon goals. In addition, Hugo is completely recyclable upon removal, therefore eliminating the need for any landfill use later in life

Load tested & certified

AFD have conducted extensive load testing with Knauf Hugo & HugoWF when installed over a traditional raised access floor on pedestals. Giving you the peace of mind needed to install a wide range of expensive finishes which will last a lifetime. For specifically brittle finishes, GifaFloor FHB18 is a structural panel which is available as an alternative.

Safety Focussed

Hugo is manufactured in 1200x600mm panels, available in 18mm & 23mm – it is easy to manoeuvre on site & install. Classed as “Non-Combustible” – Hugo is Class A fire rated offering no reaction.

Ideal when acoustics matter

Offering a density of 1100kg/m3, Hugo is ideal to help reduce impact sound when installed over a raised access floor. Where there are specific acoustic targets to achieve, HugoWF is available. The same high performance panel but with a 10mm wood fibre backing factory bonded to the underside of the panel. HugoWF offers a 21dB improvement to impact sound
