Knauf Hugo dry screed floor panels have been developed for use in new or refurbished domestic and commercial building applications. The lightweight panels are specially designed as a cost effective alternative to wet screed. Drying times are eliminated and the floor is ready for traffic within 4 hours. The medium density 1100 kg/m³ gypsum fibreboard has a low profile of only 18mm, yet creates a strong and robust monolithic floor. As well as replacing wet screed, it can be used as a screed board overlay where the sub floor is not suitable to accept finishes. Knauf Hugo has custom-fit tongue & groove milling joints for quick and easy installation by any competent tradesperson using Knauf GifaBond Blue adhesive. Gypsum fibre panels are the perfect replacement to wet screed and timber boards where direct bonded ceramic floor finishes are specified.

High Recycled Content

Knauf Hugo comes with excellent environmental credentials, making it an ideal low-carbon material to use within a project to help towards reducing the overall carbon footprint of a project. Knauf Hugo dry screed panels are manufactured from recycled content. If used in conjunction with underfloor heating, the carbon footprint can be reduced even further. In comparison to chipboard, Hugo is proven to increase underfloor heating system efficient by between 36% and 43%. This means that the ongoing running costs of underfloor heating systems are reduced for the lifetime of the project. Never worry about landfill. On removal, Knauf Hugo dry screed panels can be easily dismantled & fully recycled

Outstanding acoustic performance

Knauf Hugo delivers impressive acoustic results. The board mass reduces impact and airbourne sound transmission, whilst minimising floor build up heights. Simple installation can easily meet and exceed the requirements of Part E of the Building Regulations. Panels options include an additional laminated wood fibre resilient layer. This is particularly useful for refurbishment projects over timber planks and old screed floors. Impact noise from footfall significantly reduced, whilst only an additional 10mm is added to the flooring profile. Hugo is also non-combustible, achieving an A1 fire classification under EN 13501-1.

Perfect partner to underfloor heating systems

Knauf Hugo benefits from being thermally transparent. It has a very high thermal conductivity rating of λR 0.38W/mK. When combined with underfloor heating systems, energy use is reduced as heating response times are quicker. Normally, large amounts of energy are wasted heating up traditional chipboard or heavy wet screed. Knauf Hugo has dramatically shortened response times and therefore lower running costs, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. The result is perfect, efficiently achieving a comfortable environment in residential applications. Hugo can be used either as a carrier for pipework (routed screed replacement) or as an overlay to pipework. Hard floor finishes are accepted with no further layers required.

Overlay to Raised Access Floor

A traditional steel encapsulated raised access floor is a commonly used structural flooring seen in the majority of commercial & office buildings throughout the UK. Typically, these large spaces are over laid with traditional timber ply or chipboard, followed by a decoupling layer and an acoustic barrier (if appropriate). Knauf Hugo dry screed board is the ideal solution to remove unnecessary build up layers with an eco-friendly approach.
